Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

My name is Lance Xavier Kabelo, born and raised in Cape Town. I grew up as an only child in a home where values, discipline, and education were always taken seriously. My childhood was filled with strong family connections—weekend braais, gatherings with my uncles and cousins, and growing up surrounded by the warmth that only a South African family can bring.

I attended school in Cape Town, where I developed a love for numbers, leadership, and business from a young age. After completing my studies locally, I had the opportunity to further my education in the United States, where I pursued my master’s degree in Texas. That international exposure helped shape the way I approach financial systems, investment strategy, and economic growth.

But no matter where I go, Cape Town is where my story began and where my heart truly stays. My parents still live here, most of my family is here, and I return often with my child. There’s something about Cape Town, the mountains, the ocean, the people, that always resets my spirit and reminds me why I do what I do.

What inspired you to start financial advisory, and what’s the story behind your brand?

My inspiration came from watching South Africans work incredibly hard yet struggle to access proper financial guidance. Many families here have the ambition, the work ethic, and the dreams, but not always the tools or education to build long-term wealth.

Growing up, I saw how financial literacy wasn’t easily accessible in many communities. I saw people afraid of the stock market, unsure about investments, or relying on informal advice rather than structured strategies. When I studied abroad, I realised how different it was, information flowed freely, and people were taught early how to build generational wealth.

I knew then that I wanted to bring that level of knowledge back home.

I built my advisory around my own name because I believe in accountability. If I’m guiding someone’s financial future, I want my identity, my values, and my integrity tied directly to that advice.

What challenges have you faced while running your business?

Running an independent advisory in South Africa comes with unique challenges. Building trust in a country where many people have been burned by scams or empty promises means you must show results, be consistent, and educate people at the same time.

Another challenge has been helping clients understand that wealth is not an overnight achievement. Many South Africans are tired of quick schemes and false promises, so part of my job is shifting mindsets, teaching patience, discipline, and long-term strategy.

I also had to build my brand from the ground up without the backing of a large institution. That meant creating my own systems, my own networks, and my own client base through transparency and real results.

What has been your proudest moment so far?

My proudest moments always come from my clients’ success stories. Whether it’s a young South African who made their first investment, a family who finally reached financial stability, or a parent who built savings for their children, those wins mean everything to me.

One moment that stands out is helping a client who had lost all confidence in finance after being taken advantage of in the past. We rebuilt their portfolio from scratch, and today they are one of my most disciplined and successful investors. Their transformation still inspires me.

How has your business grown or changed since you started?

I started my career working with established financial companies in South Africa. That foundation helped me understand the local market deeply, from the unique economic pressures our people face to the opportunities that often go unnoticed.

I later worked with top tier companies in the financial sector, learning high level investment systems and wealth strategies. Today, I’m fully independent and building my own team with the vision of establishing a full scale advisory firm in the United States.

My growth has shifted from being part of a system… to building my own system.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

My favourite part is watching South Africans break generational patterns. Seeing someone shift from fear to confidence… from confusion to clarity… from surviving to building wealth that is what I love most.

I also love that my work connects me to people from all backgrounds: professionals, parents, young entrepreneurs, and those who simply want a better future for their families.

Nothing beats the feeling of knowing you played a part in someone’s financial transformation.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My day starts early with reviewing global and local market trends. Then I move into client meetings, strategy planning, and analyzing portfolios. Afternoons are usually dedicated to research, my team, and updating clients on their progress.

Evenings are quieter, I take time to reflect, read, and plan for the next day. Some days involve local travel, networking, or workshops when I’m back in Cape Town.

How do you balance work and personal life?

Balance for me means setting boundaries. When I’m working, I am fully committed. When I’m with family, I disconnect and give them my full attention.

Coming back to Cape Town often helps me recharge. Being home, surrounded by family and familiar places, brings me peace and reminds me of my purpose.

What makes your business stand out from the competition?

My business stands out because I focus on individualized financial education, not just investment placements. I take time to teach, guide, and build confidence not just portfolios.

I also combine South African market knowledge with international exposure. That gives my clients a broader strategy while still grounding everything in the realities of our local economy.

My approach is personal. Transparent. Long term. No shortcuts. Just strategy and results.

What advice would you give to someone starting in the financial industry?

Learn the fundamentals. Be consistent. Be honest. Most importantly, understand that this job is not about money, it’s about people.

Clients are trusting you with their futures. Approach that responsibility with respect, patience, and humility.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know that despite working in a high pressure industry, I’m very family oriented. I enjoy spending time at home, visiting local places in Cape Town, and appreciating the simple things in life.

Do you have a motto or quote you live by?

“God handles the direction. my job is the discipline.”

It keeps me grounded, focused, and aligned.

If you weren’t running this business, what would you be doing?

I would be teaching, probably finance or entrepreneurship. I have a passion for breaking down complex ideas and empowering people with knowledge and maybe also writing .
